guiding you through grief, loss, and new life

Giving in to Gravity

Gravity is our loyal, overlooked friend. We may try to levitate off the planet, leave our bodies, and exist only in the ethers. Yet we remain spirit in flesh rooted in the Earth.

We are bodies moving on the body of the earth.  Accepting that, we enjoy connection, sustenance, and resilience.  We can tap this vast energy resource by mindfully giving in to gravity.

As you walk about your day, slow down to notice the shifting points of contact and support as one foot takes your weight and you roll and shift to the other foot.  You might be aware of your breath, your immediate surroundings, time slowing to the potent present.

There is a rebound of energy from the Earth as you press down and sink in with your weight.  It’s anchor and lift, roots and branches, the Piezoelectric effect.

Imagine as I do that Earth herself is meeting your every footfall with a supportive hand.  Walk mindfully and receive gravity’s gift.
