No matter how you celebrate the bounty of autumn, I wish you well this week. I hope you enjoy this chance to renew bonds of community and family ties, to share in abundance, and to feel humbled by gratitude.
You may be honoring Indigenous People’s Day and supporting Standing Rock water protectors. You may be cooking up a traditional Thanksgiving with family and friends, practicing peace in a divisive time. You may be fasting and meditating, hiking out in nature. Or something else altogether.
I like this simple quote: The grateful heart sits at a feast. No matter our circumstances, we can be grateful for something or someone. This breath, this body, this earth, these beloveds. None perfect, but all serving perfectly.
It is humbling to count our blessings. Most of all we get to be grateful for another day of life. Another chance to live up to our ideals, to make our values manifest. How can we build and share compassion, empathy, connection together? How can we continue to share the blessings, not just during the holidays?
