The Shadow Knows

The Shadow Knows

Times of illumination and breakthrough are often signaled by the Shadow making itself known. The Shadow is anything in us that is not yet integrated, anything that’s calling to be recognized and healed and incorporated at this time.

It is the thing we must face to be able to move forward.

This detail from a Rick Bartow painting, Bear Medicine, 2014, reminds me of the perhaps frightening, but ever life-giving, energy of the Shadow.

Often the Shadow shows up as critical inner voices telling us that we are less than. These voices are not current, but are echoes of old stories of who we once were or who we fear ourselves to be.

The Shadow can also show up as our mastery, our excellence that everyone but us can see. There can be a fear of being seen and heard, not because we are flawed, but because we have so much to offer. Sometimes it is our light, our power, our ability to have a big, positive impact that we are hiding from ourselves.

To be with the Shadow is to get current and come into Present Time. The Shadow offers up information, and we get to choose. Is this story current, useful, supportive? Is it something to release? Is it something to rewrite so you can be more fully yourself?

If you are having a hard time with your Shadow, please contact me. I’d love to support you to get current and incorporate the wisdom that it brings.
